1R spent the afternoon learning about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies. We watched videos of Remembrance Sunday and how poppies are made in the factories. We then went away and used a range of art materials to create our own poppies and medals for soldiers. Some of us also looked at photographs of Miss Roberts grandad who was a soldier in Egypt between 1945 and 1948. We looked at photographs, souvenirs, and postcards written to his family back home in England. We used our Geography skills to use globes and atlases to try to find Egypt so we could see where he was.
